Friday finds.

Friday, April 27, 2012

Can you believe it's almost May? Where does the time go? I'm still getting settled in my new place and things have been busy! Here are a few things from the internet that caught my eye this week, in no particular order:

Fluffy Raspberry Mousse recipe from DesignCrush. I literally have a batch of this chilling in the refrigerator right now. It looks so delicious and makes me think of my grandma. She was a master of Jello.

Origami bow tutorial via How About Orange. These are so easy to make and really fun! I made a few from old construction document plans at work. Once you get going, you'll want to make a bunch of these.

Paper calla lily gift toppers, from Oh Happy Day.

These super cute bento boxes, via Creature Comforts. I want the blue one in the middle!

I can't stop looking at these amazing photos of the Beattie residence, via Modern Findings.

These lovely bird feeders (and a few planters) from Gainey Ceramics are on sale through Fab.com. Gainey is a well-known name in mid-century ceramics. I'm so tempted by that little aqua number... If you're interested, hurry up! The sale ends soon!

Well, that's all I've got for now. Happy Friday and have a lovely weekend!

Screen Prints from Etsy.

Friday, April 20, 2012

My favorite part of moving into a new space is, of course, the decorating! I'm finally getting to the point where I can see past the boxes and get excited about decorating ideas and getting my art up on the walls. I THINK I've got most of my furniture where I want it to be and I've carved out an area for my work space. I'm just about to get a new (bigger!) printing table and I can't wait to get printing again. It feels like it's been ages and I'm really missing it! And speaking of printing, here are a few items from my favorite screen printers on Etsy:

Green girl - CricketPress (I've got this one hanging in my hallway)
Going to See My Baby - strawberryluna
Jezebel butterfly - beethings
Sebright Bantams - deebeale
Retro Forest - PinkParakeet
Spring Breeze - lisastubbs
California Gold No. 2 - LabPartners (I just bought this beauty for my living room!)
Check out Etsy and the links listed above for other great screen prints. They're fairly inexpensive when compared to original pieces and have a wonderful handmade quality that you just don't get from a digital print!

Moving day!

Monday, April 2, 2012

Today's the day! The day all of my worldly possessions get packed into a truck and driven down the highway to our new home. I've been really busy packing and getting everything ready, but the movers will be here in about 4 hours, so it's crunch time.

I typed the above paragraph last Friday at 7:30 AM right before the moving company called me to say the movers and the truck were arriving 3 hours early!! Needless to say, it was a mad dash there for a minute and a long weekend of hauling things in my pack mule (poor MINI) and vigorous cleaning. I'm totally out of the old place and now living among boxes, but I'm relieved the hard work is behind me. I still don't have my internet hooked up yet, so I'm typing from the Los Gatos Public Library. I've been to many libraries but I think this is the fanciest one yet! I'm hearing a guy foaming lattes downstairs!

Anyway, I still have lots of unpacking to do back at the new place. Here's a little glimpse of the part of it that I just couldn't resist: the kitchen!

It has these awesome teal counter tops and light yellow appliances that look practically brand new. It also has a big window above the flush-mounted sink. I'm already planning on screen printing my retro house design and sewing some cafe curtains. I think my stuff looks good here.

Now all I have left to figure out is the rest of the place! :)
